Time for a Doggie News Roundup

We’ve scoured the World Wide Web to find the latest happenings in the dog world for our dear readers. So much is going on at the moment that we have decided to amass all of the news here in one post. It’s our way of helping you stay in tune with the latest on our furry friends and thanking you for reading our humble blog.

First up (and on a very sad note) is an update on the Purina Beneful dog food lawsuit. It seems that NBC News in the US has claimed there are toxins in this pet food that is killing dogs. There is a lawsuit and Purina denies all the claims. Let’s be mindful of what we’re feeding our beloved animals by reading the ingredients carefully and doing our best to keep them safe. You can read about the Purina lawsuit here.

In that same vein, here is an interesting article we came upon on what fruits you can feed your dog. We love fruit but did you know they are good for your dog as well? You can find a list of fruit, the nutrients they contain and how they can benefit your dog here.

Here’s an amazing article about a German Shepherd that has the ability to smell thyroid cancer. He has an 88% success rate in university studies thus far. He does it by smelling differences in the urine of people with cancer and those without. You can read more about this fascinating research here.

We found this terrible news on the web about a prized dog being poisoned at the famous British dog show Crufts. We at Brandog send our condolences to the owner of Irish Setter, Jagger, who died shortly after returning home to Belgium. We hope the perpetrator is found and justice is served for this beautiful creature. You can read about this horrible incident here.

On a lighter note, we leave you this link to “His Master’s Voice and Other Famous Dog Paintings”. All the greats are listed so have a peek and enjoy!
